From attendance to impact: what should be measured after training?
A concise framework for measuring experience quality, knowledge gain, transfer to practice, and performance impact.
Four layers create a complete picture
Learner satisfaction matters, but it is not enough to judge success. A stronger view combines experience quality, learning gained, workplace application, and movement in the target result.
- Learner experience and content relevance.
- Knowledge or skill gained.
- Behaviour applied in the workplace.
- The operational indicator linked to the programme.
Make measurement part of the design
Do not postpone measurement until the programme ends. Define the baseline, follow-up method, and evidence owner before delivery, then use the results to improve the next cohort.
